Southern Sweet Potato Pie

Ingredients


Pie crust:

10 inch Graham Ready Crust


Pie filling:

3 Medium Sweet Potatoes

1 1/2 cup - Sugar

1/2 tsp - Cinnamon

1/2 tsp - Nutmeg

2 teaspoons - Vanilla

2 Large Eggs

1/2 cup - Evaporated milk

1/2 cup - Butter


Note: Taste as you go and feel free to add, lessen, or substitute ingredients according to your preference.


Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Step 2

Wash sweet potatoes until clean.

Step 3

Bring sweet potatoes to a boil. You can either boil your potatoes in a large pot on medium to high heat, or bake in the oven for 40-50 minutes until potatoes become tender.

Step 4

Strain potatoes or remove from oven and allow to cool before peeling the skin off.

Step 5

Blend all ingredients together until well combined (use whisk, fork, or electric mixer), then pour pie filling in pan. Make sure to spread evenly.

Step 6

Bake pie for 50 minutes to an hour (after 50 minutes, reduce your heat to 350 degrees and bake for the remaining minutes if pie is baking too fast.)
